The biggest celebration of dogs is back in Birmingham at the NEC and this year, to celebrate 20 years of their sponsorship, there is a fun new Facebook app run by Samsung where you can “adopt” a dog and help care for it and in turn you help raise money for the Blue Cross Animal Hospital.

Why not have a look and give it a go?!?

Get Involved!!!

Choose your very own virtual homeless dog and interact with it to make sure your dog has everything it needs to be happy and healthy – from taking it for a walk to buying it a new ball. For every virtual dog “adopted”, for every ‘Like’ donated, Samsung will make a contribution towards a vital health check for a Blue Cross rescue dog.

All dogs that come to Blue Cross are given a full MOT before being found a happy new home. Part of this is a health check by a vet who will look at the condition of a dog’s coat, skin and teeth, check weight, measure heart rate and breathing, and check the dog’s hearing and sight.

– so come and play and help a rescue dog today!

Just log in to Facebook and help raise money for the Samsung and Blue Cross rescue dogs here:

For advanced tickets to the show you can purchase them for a reduced rate via the website at:

If you just want an excellent shopping experience and to meet some very friendly and knowledgeable dog loving folk then it’s worth the trip alone! Unfortunately, unless your dog has been entered into any of the competitions then you cannot bring dogs along.

I will hopefully see you there!

Please go to my Fabecook page for details on how you can WIN a pair of tickets to go on a day of your choice!!

Delightfully Designed Doggy Din Dins!

I have been trying to combat LJ’s bad breath for the last 6 months… He was a little dog storing some seriously BAD breath! I feed him a healthy, nutrious mix of Burns Mini Bites which does not include any additives or maize which is often use to bulk out dry food. He also has a spoonful of wet food in the form of Nature Diet fresh meat and vegetable mix to add extra taste and keep things interesting. All these come at a reasonable price if bought in bulk. I am happy to pay at a premium for a good, fresh, honest dog food that is tasty, good for his gut and made ethically within the UK.

All this did start to combat the bad aromas which had been emitting from both ends of his little body since he was a pup but, after the farts stopped, the bad breath still hadn’t been toned down to a level I was happy with. I started researching other natural supplements or treats, chews etc that might help when I came across DinDins!

A small, friendly innovative company which focuses on putting back all the essential nautral elements found in raw foods which some processed foods are missing. We all often opt for a more processed diet as it offers convenience and, a lot of the time, it keeps longer and stores better then raw ingredients.  A lot of common ailments found in our pets these days are often due to the lack these important elements in their food which need to be restored and returned into their diets.

By simply adding a spoonful of DinDins Wickedly Raw Supplement into LJ’s food once a day was enough for a huge result after just 4 weeks! I highly recommend it to anybody who has a dog or cat who suffers from any of these: infections, rashes, baldness, itching, food intolerances, skin conditions, pigmentation, and helps glossy coats. Good for puppies, pregnancy, immunity, vitality, blood sugars, joints, pancreatic insufficiency, maintenance of kidney issues and cystitis, runny stools, constipation, IBS/IBDS, intestinal problems, and weight maintenance.

Read more about this particular product here:

If you wish to find out more before trying it out then Alison or Kerry would be more then happy to help you further and talk you though any questions you may have.

There are a lot of products out there designed to cover the smell with instant remedies such as spray or mints to chew but to properly fight the problem for good you need to work out why your pet has the problem and where to tackle it, not to just mask over it. DinDins aim is to help you maintain a healthy pet from the inside which will always show on the outside in appearance, vitality and personality!

New Dog Owner Community Launches Online with Charity Drive

A brand new website has launched in the UK, aimed at dog owners looking to save money on essential purchases such as dog food, treats, beds, leads and much more; with an innovative comparison function that enables visitors to not only find the best price, but also donate to charity just by buying items through the site.

My Dog World has launched in the UK with an aim to become the one stop shop for dog owners; providing a price comparison function which allows users to both save money and donate a percentage of their purchase to charity, purely by using the website.

Visitors to the website can view and compare prices across hundreds of dog-related products such as dog food, crates, leads, find discount codes and special offers and also, by simply using the price comparison function and purchasing through the site, a percentage of the user’s order value is donated by My Dog World to various dog related charities and organisations.

Working in such a way, these donations cost the customer no more extra cash than they would have spent on their items anyway, as it is My Dog World that releases the money to the chosen charities. In terms of targets for how much My Dog World is aiming to raise for its partner charities, the site hopes to achieve enough sales to give £250,000 in 2012.

With more than 8 million dog owners in the UK, the site owners see that just a small percentage of these would be required to get behind the idea for them to achieve the target donation. The price comparison function on the site can often bring up the same item with a £10 difference in cost from different retailers, so the customer always benefits.

As well as helping users save money and enabling them to easily donate money to charity, My Dog World provides users with information on re-homing and rescue dogs and details on dog training, behaviour and much more; thanks to a partnership with leading dog trainer and behaviourist expert Gwen Bailey.

The site will educate dog owners further, providing them with all the products, information and advice they could need to give their dog a happy home. Users can also upload images of their pet dogs and share stories of their pets with other users.

Stuart Reed, founder of, spoke about the charity donation aspect of the website; “It has recently been brought to my attention that around 20 dogs are put to sleep in the UK every day, often through no fault of their own and simply because animal shelters have not been successful in re-homing them. This saddens me no end and I know many people are giving up their pets because they can no longer afford to keep them. Team this with the fact charity donations from the general public are declining and there is a real problem.

“We wanted to think of a way that we could give money to dog related charities and dog related good causes without having to ask site visitors for more money than they would spend on the purchase of their items. We therefore decided we would give a percentage of each purchase to charity, because then everyone wins. The charities benefit and customers can feel good about buying through My Dog World, because they know they are getting the best price for goods and making a difference to dog welfare.”
